A: Back in the olden days, when the system was first invented, the pyramids (Icehouse pieces, in those days) were all handmade by Kristin and Andy, which meant that the supply was very limited. They wanted to spread the love of the game/s though, and freely encouraged fans to make their own sets. Pyramid fans who really dubbed themselves “pieceniks”.

We still encourage fans to make their own sets if they are interested in doing so. Sometimes our nice quality injection molded ones are too expensive, or unavailable in certain areas, or it’s just fun to make nifty custom sets for yourself. Folding pieces out of paper, origami-style, also has a long history. Here is a great video all about it, made by a fan.
